Piece of cake patisserie has been opened since the beginning of 2019, but behind it lies a long period of refinement and experience in the industry. The core business is the manufacture of cakes that fully adapt to the customer wishes – with both taste and appearance. Since the very beginning, the Piece of Cake goal was a strong answer to modern sweets by embracing traditional recipes, quality ingredients and impressive workmanship.
At the very beginning of the logo redesign process, we recognized the challenge of presenting a traditionally oriented brand in a modern way. Client's wish was to represent the trust and the quality of Piece of Cake, but also to add a touch of luxury. The brand name alone gives a very picturesque image that we did not want to ignore.
The choice of colors and elements in the logo came naturally, after a thorough exploration of the symbolism of "edible" colors. We opted for dark brown (as an edible alternative to black), mint blue (a sweetness addition), and gold that rounds out the story with luxury.
The logo is completely custom made - from the elements to the typography used in it. The letter "O" of the word "OF" is composed as a cake, while the "A" of the word "CAKE" is a piece of cake with whipped cream on the edge.
Separate elements that complete the entire image of the logo are created with the intention that they can be used as part of the logo, but also separately. The wavy line symbolizing the whipped cream as well as the piece of cake instead of the letter A represent an additional part of the visual identity, adaptable to all combinations between the three colors used.
In the business card design, we opted for a playful version of a piece of cake that was cut and duplicated on the front in different color combinations, creating a specific visual pattern. The back contains all the essential information about the owner as well as a QR code that leads directly to the Facebook page, bringing the digital dimension to the traditional print.
